　池の平湿原は多様な自然がおりなす、”高山植物の宝庫”といえる自然を満喫できるところです。私たちが行った7月初旬にはレンゲツツジ、アヤメの大群落を始め、珍しいコマクサの群落やシャクナゲなど多くの高山植物を楽しむことができました。

Ikenotairawetlands is a variety of natural woven treasure trove of alpine plants. We canenjoy nature here. We went to Ikenotaira wetlands in early July.We were we ableto enjoy a lot of alpine plants such as rare Komakusa of communities andrhododendron. rengetsutsuji, including the large community of iris.

　標高2000mの池の平湿原は、数万年前の三方ヶ峰火山の火口原に広がる高層湿原です。浅間山麓一帯は、里山から一気に標高2000m超の山頂へと急峻な地形になっており、内陸性気候のため昼夜の気温差、年間の気温差が極めて大きい気候条件にあります。このため里山に生息する植物から、本来ならば3000m級山岳地帯に見られる高山性植物が、この一帯に混在しています。そのような特有な環境が、池の平湿原を多様な自然がおりなす、”高山植物の宝庫”にしたといえます。

　浅間山の周辺には、浅間山の外輪山を代表する黒斑山から、車坂峠を西へ高峰山、水ノ塔山、篭ノ登山、さらに高層湿原の池ノ平湿原を通り、三方ヶ峰、見晴岳、湯の丸高原・地蔵峠から湯の丸山、烏帽子岳まで山々が続いています。標高2000メートルの高峰高原は、車坂峠を中心としたなだらかな高原で晴れた日は、車坂峠から富士山、八ヶ岳、北アルプスが一望できます。浅間山に連なる山々の縦走路からは、四阿山、草津白根山、谷川岳、奥秩父・甲武信岳、富士山、八ケ岳、蓼科山、西に北アルプスの山々を望めます。湯の丸高原は浅間連峰の西側に位置し、その名のとおり、丸く穏やかな表情の峰々と、爽やかな亜高山帯の気候がおりなす一帯は「花高原」として親しまれつつじ平のレンゲツツジ大群落が有名です。
